Our Spring Céilidh for 2008 |
|
Our birthday Céilidh in September 2007 was such a resounding success, that it was agreed fairly unanimously by all attendees on the night that we should make a Spring Céilidh an annual event.
This year's event will be on Saturday October 4th. We've previously announced it as being at last year's venue at Thornleigh, but the date and venue have both had to change. It'll now be in the North Ryde School of Arts.
More details will be announced soon, with a downloadable flyer.
Please mark the date in your calendars, and stay tuned for updates !!

Fondly remembering Jan Kennedy |
|
We remember with great sadness the loss of our dear friend and keen Singer, Jan Kennedy, and are mindful of the bereavement of her husband Ron. As the weeks and events have come and gone since Jan's passing, we are reminded frequently of Jan's absence, not least by observing anew just how much she had contributed to the group.
Jan passed away, suddenly and unexpectedly, on July 29th, 2007.
Jan's entire life was in music, and as a singer and music teacher, pianist and organist, and choir leader her music touched many thousands of people.
She joined the Singers in the year 2000, and with Ron accompanied the group twice to Scotland to compete at the Royal National Mod. In Oban in 2003, Jan competed in the solo singer's Marjorie Kennedy-Fraser competition, and even though both Gaelic music and the Gaelic language were fairly new to her, she performed the Kennedy-Fraser version of Tàlaidhinn thu with great success and received high marks and positive comments from the adjudicators.
Jan was a talented musician and singer, a warm and embracing person, and a valued member of our group. She is missed beyond words.
